Drenched in natural beauty, Avon is unique as Hatteras Island widens just a bit, creating space for forests of native cedar and live oak trees to take hold. These trees were essential to the early boat building history of Avon and established the town as the center of Hatteras Island. Today the beautiful setting combined with the lush green dunes and the undeveloped beaches of the Cape Hatteras National Seashore offer the perfect setting to capture portraits of your family enjoying your Outer Banks vacation.

Historic Avon
A unique destination in Avon is historic Kinnakeet Village located on the soundside of the town. You’ll find historic residential homes dating to the late 1800’s featuring beautiful coastal gardens and landscaping. Some homes feature foundations and flooring made entirely from wood scavenged from the shipwrecks that lined the beach. Other attractions include the Avon Pier and Koru Beach Club, but the real attraction is the beach. Avon’s beaches are famous for being uncrowded, clean, and filled with fun for vacationing families who enjoy spending time in the sun.
